The hospital auxiliary has a long history of service to the hospital and community as a volunteer organization designed to assist with special projects fundraising . We offer meaningful involvement in support of the hospital promoting a healthy community and an opportunity to meet new people. Fundraising events are held throughout the year and volunteer assistance is needed with these projects.

2015 Fundraising schedule so you can plan ahead: The final fundraiser for the year is the Linen Sale on November 12-14.

• An earlier Scrubs and Beyond fundraiser was held on March 26; Masquerade Jewelry had a successful event on April 9 and 10 at the Salem Fire Department and unfortunately their second event this fall has been CANCELLED; Books are Fun was held on September 10 with a welcomed group of shoppers!  Our second Scrubs and Beyond fundraiser was held on October 15.

Volunteers are also needed to serve in areas throughout the hospital where you can "Make a Difference" in the lives of patients you serve. Duties could include decorating for holidays or special occasions, answering department telephones or transporting and assisting patients to departments within the hospital.

Please take a moment and consider joining Salem Memorial District Hospital Auxiliary when it meets September through May on the first Tuesday of each month. Meetings have moved to the Salem Community Center @ the TCRC building on J Highway beginning at noon. With lunch provided, a short business meeting is included, and is completed within a one hour timeframe.

A special holiday luncheon is held each December in appreciation for the efforts of the auxiliary members.

Projects SMDH Auxiliary has recently completed include:

• (43) Flat Screen TV for all hospital patient rooms and long term resident rooms

• SunSetter motorized awning for long term care patio;

• All new decal design for 2-new ambulances; and

• Staxi chairs for the emergency department;

• Contribution for wall décor for newly extended and remodeled long term care dining room;

• (2) $500 scholarships to graduating seniors entering the healthcare field.

Total fundraising in the past few years has exceeded $35,000 for the projects listed above.
